If you're taking part in NaNoWriMo you should be hitting 10,000 today. If you already have, then congrats! I've just hit 10,500 myself and it's still early here in England.
I'm getting tough on the site though. If you're on my buddy list and you're still dragging under 2,000 words then prepare to be cut off the list! Harsh, I know. In half an hours time I'm going to be purging those people off the list.
It's angled more to be an incentive for you to keep writing. Keep up the pace. Don't fall behind. This month is a long, sprinting marathon; not an easy country jog.
If you're struggling, one thing that stopped me from reaching the 50,000 marks in years before is that I was editing too much. I was re-reading and re-writing. It is so difficult not to do. Just try your hardest to avoid this. Don't pause for spelling mistakes or grammar errors, focus on the next word not the last.
I also have learned to keep track of what I've written; jotting down quick and important notes that have happened so far. It means I don't have to go scrolling back through the mess to locate important information.
List 'em off here; what's your word count so far? Have you had any unexpected surprises? Do you wish you'd done another genre? Vent it all here.

Features
The genre and point of view I've picked have proven somewhat challenging and so far I don't regret it. Great practice and I can always rewrite it later to make it sound prettier. I keep the outline I wrote for this book before starting open at almost all times so I can remember the path I was wanting the story to take, especially when I forget what I wanted to have happen next.
My biggest worry is that I'll finish the story too soon and not know what to do next.
nano: but... but...
me: *shoves away* I HAVE A FOUR DAY WEEKEND COMING UP I'LL FIX YOU THEN
well, I did have 2,000 words just a few hours ago but now I'm in the middle of writing (taking a minute breather) and have 4,133 words so far.
Now back to writing. Have SO much to do.
Plus I wish I had picked a better story line. I ventured TOO far. Fell completely off my comfort square. Means I have to pull a plot out the air, and pick it up with my words somehow.
I am really surprised that I have managed to write at least 1,667 words every day, I seriously though that I couldn't do it, but this is a nice surprise. I'm also pretty proud of myself since I'm writing in English, which is not my mother language but I think I'm doing pretty good, of course there some mistakes, but I think can live with that.
I don't know if it is weird, but I already have over 10,000 words and I have introduced only two of the seven main characters... I probably should speed things up at least a little bit xD
